Introducing: iTunes Tags for Podcasts

Today is a big day for podcasters. We are releasing an enhancement to podcast enabled feeds that allows you to set the appropriate iTunes tags required for submitting to the iTunes Store. If you already have a feed with tags and have used a third party solution for this, there is no need to make any changes. If you want to modify your existing tags, you can now use FeedPress to make those changes. As for all other rich media in your feed, we handle links to MP3s, videos, and images; FeedPress creates the enclosures for them automatically.

Let’s dive into how you set up your tags:

Step One

If you’re adding a feed for the first time, make sure you go to Settings > Your feed and enable podcast analytics.

Step Two

Next up, upload your feed/podcast logo in Settings > Your feed so that it appears in your feed and in iTunes.

Step Three

Go to Settings > Your podcast to access the tagging interface. Just fill in the blanks and save your changes when you’re satisfied (remember, you can always change them later).

In case you missed it, we now have an automated FeedBurner migration tool to help you move any feeds you still have in FeedBurner. We port over your feeds, RSS and email subscribers to remove the manual work involved that used to be required. If you haven’t tried it yet, you can read our previous announcement about it.
